4x4 problem? clunk/bang/snap
97 f-250ld 4x4 with 5.4 and electric shift 4x4- my 4x4 shifts in and out just fine and works alright as well, i have noticed though that when my front end gets traction at an intersection for ex. where my back tires r still on ice and front grab, the front end will make a bad snapping noise and i can feel a slight jolt like a shock going through the 4x4 from some slippage, i also notice it when i am in deep snow and accelerating through it and the 4x4 is in, it will snap and if i stay on the gas it will keep snapping so long as the front end is pulling the truck to get through the snow, i also noticed it in 4x4lo a year ago pulling a wagon of beans when i accelerated on dirt. i have talked to local mechanics and they seem to think its a normal shock the 4x4 experiences but i dont feel this is the case, has anyone experienced this???? it seems like when it does snap and bang that i am missing traction i should have from the front wheels, thus leading me to know its a slippage somewhere....any help is appreciated. Thanks
