I saw that thread, and yes, it was the nicest hood scoop I had seen on a truck. That guy was talented. Wasn't it similar to a Maverick scoop or something? I wish I could find the thread.

Some of the scoops on these trucks look good if there done right an it is a working scoop not some cheap knock off you buy somewere. But I think the hood scoops look better on cars like Mustangs etc... then trucks anyway it looks more like it came from the factory an not just tossed on for looks like some people do with these cheap looking wings & exhaust setups they have.

The outside is pretty nice. The cast grille looks good too. Its about 2.5 inches tall, 18 inches wide.
I also may be able to get you an NOS unit without the grill.
If I had a $150, I wouldn't mind putting that on my old rig, looks nice! Unfortunately, I think getting my back brakes working is slightly more important!

Just curious, i was lookin at my intake and what not, i realized it's a lil far back. How would I go about overcoming this when I try to put my shaker hood scoop on?

To overcome the offset of the motor (both side to side and front to back) you can build a fiberglass mold to fit. You can use foam and carve it for the proper shape and then use it for your mold.

I've been searching for pictures of a guys shaker setup that shows this best, but no luck yet. You need to decide on the location of your shaker and then transfer this to the bottom of the hood. Next, transfer the carb throat location to the bottom of the hood. From here you can see what your offset will be.

Decide on the type of air filter housing you'll be using so you have a basic shape to work with. Using a dense foam you can carve it to transition from the air filter housing to the shaker. Foam can be carved easily, when you have your shape then spray it with sealer and then wax with mold release. Coat with epoxy and then layer fiberglass wetted with epoxy. Build up to the thickness you need. When dry apply fiberglass putty and smooth, allow to dry and sand smooth. Now your ready to pop the mold and primer and paint.

I'll keep looking for the pics.

Get some sm foam like they use on concrete or walls (blue or pink) shape it to fit your breather up to your scoop, it's called a plenum. Once you have got the disired shape, glass it with matt and resin, once it's cured you can use thiners and melt the foam out.
Do some sanding prime and paint and vualla. Google it and you can get a visual so you can grasp the concept it's not the easist thing to do the first time but after one or two builds you will catch on quik and be making all sorts of things.
Please make sure you have adequate ventilation!! The vapors are not healthy...

Just got this Ford NOS unit, never had paint. Debating on weather to powdercoat it or just use paint on top and POR15 underneath
Here is the placement on the bigger trucks:

I always thought this would look cool if mounted. It keeps the hood ridge and would look pretty cool if I had the stuff to install the turn signals into it. The guy that gave it to me told me it was off a Torino but I am not sure it has Ford Assy Short Boss stamped on the underside.
