1989 B2 clutch install
I burned up the clutch on my Bronc towing something way to heavy for the truck. Now I am replacing and and so far i have bought a clutch kit, do I need to drop the driveshaft to get to the clutch.... any books that would make this go easier

funny you should ask. I just got through replacing the clutch kit and slave cylinder on my b2 and I DID have to pull the driveshaft.....as well as the transfer case, transmission, and all the other fun stuff that goes along with that! I am not completely sure you have to pull all that to change JUST the clutch plate, but if you do I would go ahead and replace everything in there (mainseal, slave cyl, pilot bearing, turn flywheel, etc.) because it is hard to get that tranny in and out (at least mine was). I have even heard one guy say that it was easier to get to by taking the engine out than trying to pull that tranny. Sorry if I have been the bearer of bad news, man. If you've never done this before, get a manual 'cuz it'll help a lot. You'll have to remove the driveshaft, transfer case, and transmission to get at the clutch. It would be best to replace the clutch slave cylinder while you're at it. Also, make sure to have your flywheel re-surfaced. If it got real hot towing something, chances are there are hot spots on it which could make your new clutch chatter if they are not removed.
