Speaking of gas prices, they say that $5 a gallon isn't out of the question by late 2012. That's gonna hurt!

Yikes!

Has anyone who received the PCM reflash noticed a drop in mpgs overall? I've been watching this closely since I had the flash in early December. My city mpgs now are more in the 11mpg range and my highway mpgs are mid to upper 14's max, no matter what I do. If I put my foot in it, my mpgs drop fast. This is my first long distance empty highway trip since the reflash. I just got back from a 1700 mile trip (empty and unloaded) noticed that I dont get the mileage that I used too. I used to be gentle with acceleration and set the cruise early and I got better mileage, but now it doesnt matter. At 75-80 mph I'm in the 12-13 range so I set my cruise at 71 mph (speedo read 75 & GPS read 71) and the best I was able to get was about 14 and a half. Tranny shifts are crisp and firm but the truck seems like it's bogged down compared to before the reflash. It seemed to be more powerful and overall better when I first got the flast but the more I drive it I've noticed what I just listed. Am I the only one?

I noticed right after the reflash that I was down about 2 mpg overall, but after driving it for a week the mpg's were where they used to be. I just figured it was due to the "re-learning" process.

My numbers are pretty much the same as yours. 75 on the highway is 13-14mpg and around town is 11-12. The only time I get anywhere near 16-17 is a steady 60 on the highway.

A agree that the shifting is better but I don't sense any bogging. The one thing I do notice is the upshifts come sooner when going easy on the pedal.

Thanks for your input.

This week was the first full week that I've driven my truck since the reflash.

The bogging issue could be the fact that I'm placing too much emphasis on the way it used to be compared to the way it is now.

My tranny still has awkward shifts every now and then but doesnt do the double shift in 3rd gear anymore.

What the heck is "winter fuel"? I didn't know there was a difference in petro. I know diesel is a little different in the winter for cold climates but I have never heard of winter fuel for gas.

Winter blend is out early in October and is discontued in May, around here anyway.
And yes, everyear my fuel economy takes a 3-4 mpg hit on the SD. But the wifes odyssey has also gone from 26mpg to 19.

Yeah, I usually see a pretty big hit on the mpg's in the winter as well. When I had my 2000 SD V10 with 37" tires, I was getting about 6mpg on the winter blend (compared to my normal 8-9mpg).

I haven't been able to see what my new 6.2 on the regular blends, so far on the winter blends, 9.5-10 with 350 miles on the truck.

Also take into consideration the idling if you remote start. Mine's been sitting for a good 10-15mins, sometimes longer idling (having to kick the remote start multiple times) so I know that's contributing to my numbers as well.

We deal with the winter blend fuel up here as well. Definatly a hit to the mpg with that stuff, especially when its all combined with *****ty ethanol fuel. The price goes up and the quality goes down.

Just an update on the MPG topic...

I did a trip down to lower Michigan for the holidays. MPG has come up just a bit with added milage on the truck. My numbers for that trip were as follows...

-500 miles at 62mph with the cruise set the whole time and no traffic(U.P. of Michigan)... 14.1mpg

-700 miles at 74mph with cruise set the whole trip and no traffic(L.P. of Michigan)...
12.4mpg

This is with a 2011 F-250 Super Cab 4X4 6.2L 4.30 gears Unloaded

I finally got some highway miles on mine as well this week here in lower MI. About 70 miles one way. I to am getting the same. 11.9 at 75MPH (Ford 75MPH so about 72) and 12.4 babying it at 60. I sure feel better about what you guys are sayinf about the winter blend. I never saw much of a difference in my '08 5.4L. Only a little bit and I just chaulked it up to increased idleing. I'm hopeing that with "summer blend" and engine broke in and synthetic oil and a good wax job that I'll see 30 MPG. Just messin' but 16-17 on a daily basis like I was getting with the 5.4L would be cool with me. That's about 4 MPG more than I am seeing now so 35 gallons X 4 MPG = 140 more miles between fill-ups. That's A LOT. That's 7 more days of back and forth to work for me. Oh, 4.30 gears Crew F-250. If I could figure out how to do a sig. I could put that info. in there.
