74 F250
I am looking at a 1974 F-250. I did some work on the engine and I bought lifters, pushrods, intake and exhuast gaskets about a year ago and I bought parts for a 360.
I was wondering how to tell what motor it is by the bore. I bought parts for it thinking it was a 360 V8 and I wanted to see if it was a 390. It is a '74 Campers Special Ranger XLT RWD and has a 4 barrel Holley on it. I'll have to check the VIN again, its my neighboors truck and I looked but the VIN didn't match up with anything on the chart, but the motor could have been swapped too. I posted one earlier and they said you can check the diffrence my mesuring through the spark plug hole how big it was.
One other question, it seems like it has a leaking wheel cylinder. The rear seems to be using brake fluid. Is it a big job to get to the rear wheels? I know on some it can be a pain but I've only worked on Chevys in the past.
Hes asking 2,700 for it. It has 10,000 on the rebuilt engine and transmission (rebuild by a local shop). Repainted black, new tires, new battery, new brakes and master cylinder. Starter went out so it sat for a year and a wheel cylinder went bad but I replaced the starter runs good. Nothing wrong but a couple small things. I got it running again and i've just been borrowing it off and on for a year but he wants to sell it now and I don't know what they are going for or what.
My main question is the price, Im not sure what they are going for or what not. Is 2,700 too much? As far as history no wrecks or damage, no rust, rebuilt motor and tranny. Its got some nicks and scratches.
