The jolt almost makes it sound like a loose UVCH (under valvecover harness) to me.

Oh and like someone said....throttle position sensor can cause these symptoms. Do you know when the last time the rear diff fluid had ben changed.

I asked about the cps because the get ones (supposedly) won't stand you but can cause these type symptoms. Since you got it from the ford dealer its probably ok.....the ones from parts houses are known to be crap

If its bucking and kicking like that, and you have ruled out the cps, the things I would check is the ICP sensor, sticky IPR, and check for loose UVCH connectors.

ICP sensor is a round black sensor about 1'' diameter on the drivers side head, towards the radiator on the inside towards the engine valley. I've had trucks before that this sensor will start to come apart and leak oil at the connector and the truck wont run worth a crap half the time.

The IPR is located on the drivers side bottom of the HPOP and it doesn't take much at all to make one stick, sometimes all it takes is removing it, and being very careful about dirt/grit/lint when you take it apart, clean it and reinstall.

The loose UVCH connections can also cause bucking.
I also had a friend with an obs and one of his GP wires somehow got shorted to one of the injector wires under the valve cover and caused voltage backfeed making some of the injectors fire at random making his truck run like absolute crap too.
But as you said you had this problem before and had them replaced, and usually this will throw the CEL when there is an issue with this.

The TPS is something that I would probably rule out since if the engine is acting up at idle as well.

There is a possibility it could be a fuel problem, but IMO if it was a fuel pressure problem with the regulator, or the pump, it would do it all the time, and be more noticeable the more throttle you gave it and less noticeable at an idle.

I might also suggest trying to run it without the edge programmer and see if it still acts up, My buddy been had that happen with his, although his wasn't an intermittent problem like yours it was all the time, but started out of no where while driving down the road.
Also with this cold weather going around, where are you located? what are the temps like? how full was your tank and how long did it sit before you drove it and it acted up? or have you had any problems out of the fuel where you last filled up?

I havent really had any time to check any of the sensors out but I did however take out the edge programmer today. I have always got fuel from the same place and never had any problems with it. Im located about an hour north of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, its been around -2degrees lately. I took the truck out for a drive today and the surging seemed to be worse and before I could make it home the truck stalled out on me and wont start now. The truck turns over but does not fire. I used my programmer to scan for codes, the one code that showed up was P1670EF, signal not detected.
Any ideas of what it could be?

It seems to be a fuel issue, I sprayed some quick start down the breather and it seems to want to fire but hasn't fired yet, any ideas?

I wouldnt be spraying to much starting fluid in the engine! It could crack a pistion or cylinder wall....Check your fuel pump, it underneth the truck on the frame about where the drivers door is. I'm having the same simptoms you are with your truck. I know my ICP sensor is bad and my fuel pump is noise as all get out. Please keep us posted! I'm really interrested on your findins, thanks.

If you wouldn't mind please share how you ruled it to being the IDM. Glad you got your rig fixed up.
