I have a check engine light on because of a missfire on cylinder #1. I've already changed the plugs and wires. What else should I look at for the cause of the missfire? Coilpacks?
Year of truck; engine size? What code/codes do you get? If you can't read the codes, go to AutoZone or some other auto parts store and have them get a readout of codes for you and let us know what they are.
I actually had that with my minivan. Soon after the dealer installed new plugs while doing other un-related work started having a misfire. Very random but drove me nuts for several months. Thinking maybe an older plug wire got cracked i replaced all of em. Still happened. Went thru same thought process- injecters, coil pack... Even started thinking torque converter stumble! After a while i said if it feels like a bad plug it must be, but they were new?! Any way since it was the easiest and least costly option I replaced them all again and problem solved. Had to be a faulty new plug that the mechanic probobly dropped on the floor but that was it! Just my 2 cents.
If you are going to replace spark plugs, be sure to use either Motorcraft or AutoLite plugs - double platinum, if you have a 4 cyl. Did you use Motorcraft or AutoLite wires as well, our Ford engines seem to run better with them that with other brands.
