I'M KINDA ON MY OWN HERE COULDN'T TEACH MY DOG TO TURN KEY FOR ME...LOL THANKS
Take the ignition module out and to the store and have them check it. It's mounted on the inner fender unless you have the TFI setup. If you have the TFI, it will be mounted on the side of the dist, and you can still take the module off and have it tested.
i read about useing a test light at coil to check to see if its the coil or distrubtor i have the square coil not the cansaiter type because it is tfi do u know when i should place the test light connections
On all ignitions, be they points all the way up to the most fancy ignitions, you can put the testlight ground on the engine block, and put the probe on the NEGATIVE of the coil, and when you crank the engine, the testlight should blink. The ignition system's job is to ground and unground the negative of the coil to make the coil fire. You will have 12v + on the positive coil wire any time the key is in run or start.
will give it another try and let u know , thanks how do remove im form dist? thanks again
It's held on by some screws, usually torx but sometimes phillips. after you get the screws out you need to unplug it from the dizzy. When you reinstall it, make sure you use thermal paste between it and the distributer, NOT dielectric grease or it will overheat and die.
thanks i give it a try after work ...i thanks all of u ..but let the paste....grease thing go both of u ok? i enjoy and learn alot for ya all but it has gone on long enough don't ya think let u know how it goes later
it seems to be a 1/4 bolt in there but i can't find a socket think enough to get in there any ideas or am I wrong about the size I took a small mirror and held it up to it so i could see and it's not a screw
