hi, i have a 1991 ford ranger 5 speed, electric t-case (i believe its the borg 1354 electric) 4x4, and i think my transfercase motor burnt out on me, checked power at the connection behind the t-case. and theres some volts going there while the 4x4 buttons pushed.
i would like to know if i can just take the motor apart and clean it or should i just buy a new one? and if so parts numbers would help and if theres any GOOD aftermarket parts. if this is an unclear thread please let me know!!

Reason: added some info
i would honestly go buy the new part from advance auto and see if it works..if it doesnt it can always go back just dont get it to dirty and clean it up a bit if it doesnt work. not very full of knowledge on rangers but thats what i would
had the same problem on my dad's 89 bronco II, I won't promise that the motor is the problem, but its more than likely that it is, it wasn't hard to change it out on the bronco, can't imagine it would be hard to do on your ranger, and advance had it in stock as well.
check fuses, clean all electrical connections, THEN buy the new motor. my 94 f150 had a loose connection on the back of the switch in the dash, and works fine now
well... the thing is that the GEM behind my jump seat might be bad... i press the button and the light stays on. its not sapose to, but when i press my dash button it clicks... thats what gets me, and im only getting power at one of the connections at the t-case connection.
