OBD II acting up

Hello all,

Now, I know this is a beating subject because I have search it and found lots of people having the problem but never get to the cause. I have a 1997 F-350 auto, 7.3 DI.

I can not get communication between scanner and truck, I have power at the fuses, the truck runs perfect. I have a DP tuner that I can not flash the PCM cause I can not get communication, I also have a Edge insight and that can not talk to the PCM.

Is it common for just a plain bad connector? I just cant see it ....

any ideas ?? (spent a lot of money on tuners and monitors to not work!)

How long have you had it? Someone may have put a junkyard 94 computer in it. I'd pull it and check the code just to be sure. 94's will run fine on your truck but the obd2 DLC will not work.

There is also the possibility of some hacked wiring somewhere.

If it was a 94 computer what will tell me that. I've had the truck now for 2 years. All I know it was a company and plow truck before I got it

You'll have to pull the PCM to see what the program code on it is.

I have to ask, does the cigarette lighter work?
It powers the OBDII port.

Did you clean the contacts on the PCM before you installed the dp chip. I thought the problem was the Scanner and the Edge Insight?

Ok makes more sense. Dp tuner is normally a chip that's where I got that. Honestly check to make sure no one installed a chip in the back of the pcm. I know you took it out but did you check.

It would plug in from the back of the pcm. There is a plastic cover from the factory over the hole. You can take the park brake bracket off and look and see. It's very easy to see. Most people will put duct tape across a chip to hold it in place.
