Clean The Engine Properly

Can someone help me out and point me in the right direction, I found a great post on how to clean your engine properly, what to cover, what to use, etc... I can't find it now, I have searched all over with no luck.

I've got a diesel leak and I'm about to change the fuel filters and the oil while I'm at it, I also wanted to clean the engine to see if the diesel leak stops after changing the fuel filter.

Thanks,

Hi there, I am sure you saw the proper procedure in your owners manual - it is in there.

Thanks, my truck unfortunately didn't come with the manual, I know I can download it from Ford, as a matter of fact, I already did, but I also like to hear/read what others have used to clean or what they've come across while cleaning or just what they might recommend.

I wouldn't clean the engine until AFTER you made sure the leak is stopped. It's easier to find leaks on a dirty engine than a clean engine since the fluid will leave a trail in the "dirt". The fluids, being basically clear, will tend to disappear on the clean surfaces.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll clean it after fixing the fuel leak then. I'll be posting about the fuel leak issue here:
