I have a small diesel leak that I can not find. I don't believe that it is the secondary fuel filter since I found a spot on the ground on the passenger side. I also have spots all over the inner wheel well on the passenger side. What can be leaking fuel on the passenger side? I am going to take a closer look this weekend, but wanted someone to point me in the right direction first.
Thanks
The secondary filter is on top of the engine. The primary is the one your thinking of in the HFCM on the drivers side.
As for leak i would look around on the top of the engine. My guess is something is leaking up there and filling up the valley and running down the bellhousing of your trans...
Actually I did mean the secondary. Also the leak is towards the front and somehow making it's way to the passenger wheel well. I have spots all over the plastic in the wheel well on the passenger side. Is it possible for the fuel to travel all the way from the secondary to the passenger side then splash in the wheel well?? I do not have any evidence back towards the transmission. I don't have any evidence of a leak on the drivers side.
So it is leaking at the top of your engine? If so clean it all out the best you can. Start it up and start looking to see if u can tell where it is coming from. Not sure how it is getting in the wheel well probably just blowin in there from drivin. Kind of odd. Be sure to look at the secondary filter real close as well as the fuel pump regulator on the side of the secondary filter housing.
The engine needs a good cleaning anyway so I guess I will start there. My CAC tubes are filthy since I have not done a PCV re route yet, hoping to get that done soon. I did notice some crud on the outside of the secondary housing. If it is a line going into/from the secondary, are the o rings easy to find? or is the dealer the best bet?
The dealer will have th o rings should be in stock and not too expensive. there is a line that is secured by a bolt. be careful when removing the bolt there are two copper washers one on each side of the line. Do not lose them and do not forget to put them back in if you dont replace them. Massive fuel leak if they are not there...
From the location you're describing I'd say check the fuel line where it goes into the front of the passenger side head. Banjo bolt with 2 copper crush washers. Try tightening it up first but don't over tighten it.
Damn, this sounds exactly like what I'm going through right now myself, about a week ago I noticed the smell of diesel in the cab, I thought maybe I was sitting in one spot with my window open too long so I was smelling the diesel fumes, around the begining of last week I noticed a decent size diesel spot on my driveway, I started investigating, it's very wet underneath the truck, I looked on top of the engine and noticed that it looks like diesel is gathering in the valley and I assume it then leaks down the block to the ground. It sounds like I need to replace my O-Rings as well??? I too have the 2006 F-250 6.0L Could it be caused by anything else besides the O-Rings going bad? Is there a step-by-step procedure on how to replace the O-Rings?? Any if would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Mine started leaking early this year when I noticed diesel smell in the cab. Once investing the source it was leaking on the small fuel filter were the fuel line enters the filter housing. The gasket was replaced and was good to go. Also this gasket seals the housing that holds the spring for fuel pressure regulation.
my truck just started leaking on the passenger side. its a constant drip that looks to be coming off the back of the head.
anybody had this happen to them?
There is a gold plug in the back of the head that caps the fuel passage through the head. it takes a 6mm allen wrench and is o-ringed. They usually never leak. They are also VERY tight but easily repaired from underneath.

Are you sure it's fuel and not coolant?
I have worked on quite a few 6.0's and have not seen this plug leak. Not sayin it aint leaking but its very very rare. But thats all i can think if that could leak from that area as well... unless the valley is fillin up and runnin out. Most of the time that is the case...
Okay so I am pretty sure it is the o rings on the fuel filter lines. I am going to bring it to the dealer to diagnose the oil leaks I have. One question....is the CCV the only thing that is turning my CAC hoses black? And if oil is bleeding through do I need to change them?
