Cold weather cab knock
This is my 4th Ford truck: 2009 F150 FX4 with a supercab. I have had a 1988 F150, 1999 F350 regular cab, 2008 F350 Regular cab. Every truck has had a knocking sound inside of the left cab panel behind the drivers head when it is cold out. My 2009 150 is knocking inside of the rear door. It is driving me crazy, and I am not very happy that it has happen with every truck I have owned. Has anyone else had this problem? How can it be fixed?

I know some of the 5.4's can be a bit noisy at start up, but knocking is never normal. To here this sound from your cab could be from vibrating or sound resonance. May want to take it to your dealer, and they may want to keep it overnight so they can start it the next morning to see for them self.

not sure how to fix it, but it may be from the shrinking of the seals in the cold weather and leaving more room for the cab to shift with the flex of the vehicle. my father has a 2009 F 250 and we can both clearly hear one of his back doors of the ext. cab flex and squeal when the weather stripping rubs together.

Thanks guys, it is not the engine, it is something inside of the cab, between the outer and inner panels. It sounds like something banging in there. I had the same thing with both, regular cabs and now with a extended cab.
