I'm not a tech, but glow plug lite on makes me think computer is
seeing ignition key turned to "off" and then back "on again.
You might be able to re-produce this in your driveway,
with the truck running jiggle the keys/ignition switch see if you
can make it happen yourself.
Do you have lots of keys hanging on your key chain?
Not sure if in our vehicles the ignition switch is prone to this or not.
But, I had an old car that shut off by itself sometimes
from the weight of a bunch of keys on the key chain.
Did you hit a bump when this happens? maybe a loose wire?
Hopefully, it's ignition switch related vs. computer.

I'd be willing to bet you have a wiring harness chaffing issue. Actually fairly common with the 03 and 04 trucks. There is a section in the tech folder that shows you the most common places to look and how to repair the harness. If you have a code scanner you might try looking for codes but if it's a chaffing issue it might not store anything.

Here is one for the injector harness: Diesel Technician Society
Typically it's any tight spot or bolt where the harness passes through, and in your case I'd start by looking at the passenger side valve cover around the back of the alternator. There are a LOT of bolts/studs that stick up that the harness can rub on and go through the harness in very hard to see places. This is NOT an easy thing to find. It can take some detective work. Be patient.

you have a pcm reset issue. check the harness next to the glowplug controller, under the pvc tube and near the ficm. those are the 3 most common. also suspect is the ebp and or the icp sensor.
