Seat problems, can anyone help?

Ok, I'm new at this, still learning the ropes ...I am looking for a bench seat for my '66 f100, but am on a very limited budget. I have heard that an '89 seat on '96 tracks will fit. Is this true?If not, does anyone know of a year or combo thereof that will work? Can anyone help me?

I recently put an '81 seat in my '66 using the '66 tracks. It's a little wider than the '66 seat but it does fit. Welcome to the wide, wide world of old ford trucks, and FTE. Tom

I put a 76 F Series seat in mine bolted right up. The only issue is the 76 has a latch, and it barely releases before it hits the gas tank, but it does work.

Hi there, Welcome to FTE!
The best source, always, for cheap parts is a wrecking yard (the pull yer own part variety), and there are always lots of bump(67-72) and dent sides(73-79) if you check often....I understand that any Ford trucks seats '67-'79 will fit. Check your local wreckers...problem is, they always seem to need to be re-covered.You may get lucky finding one though that is in good shape.

Hey Maverick,

Glad to see you made it to this site.

Pick a saturday or a sunday that you want to go across the river to pull a part. We can pull some tracks from a 67 to 72 era to use for whatever bench we find to install in your truck. The tracks on the seats you have now may not work. I can look at them and let you know. Give me a call whenever.

I used a seat from a 96. It required a little change to the way it bolted to the tracks, but the mouning frame was the same as the 65 so the tracks were reused.

First and foremost; Welcome to FTE!! Believe seat widths are the same from 67 or 68 thru 80's and possibly 90's thus the backs should be interchangeable with the bench seat. This is where 1 arm rest will need to be eliminated. Believe it is after 78-79 where the seat tracks are different. Drove the 65 daily for some 35 plus years and worn my sorry backside out, as well as the seat, before swapping out the seat and deciding to go for comfort. Installed 87 lariat backs to 68 bench. Took the padding leaving springs in the 68 bench and took the 87 lariat contoured seat padding and set it into the 68 bench for the uphosterer to use as a pattern/templet, then took to shop. If able to find the seat in decent condition then possibly able to save a few $. There are a number of FTE members who have done some outstanding interior modifications, and designs, I was fortunate, came across a good and reasonable uphostery shop; may want to check with few shops may be surprised. Although fairly basic it only cost me around $250 for labor and material.

57 to 79 bolt in with no modifications using the 57 to 79 seat tracks.

80 to 96 bolt to the stock seat brackets 57 to 79 and then bolt in the floor with no modifications.

Seats can be obtained from any F series truck until the new 96.5 F series. Later old style super duties up until the new body style can also be used.

Pull it yards sell seats 15 to 30 bucks.

I have a 79 F150 TS seat in my 64 and it is about the most comfortable seat i have ever sat in next to my old 85 split bench in the "Goat Truck"

Just to let you guys new, Maverick has a nice little canvas to start with. Fooling with his truck the other day has caused me to start working on my trucks again. He is also a pretty good guy.

Not all seat tracks are the same. When I put the '69 seat in my '77 supercab I had to use the supercab tracks because they are longer from front to back where they bolt to the floor. Tom

I installed seat from '77 f150 - direct bolt-in. Seat latches would've punctured gas tank in most rearward position. Simply grinded them a little to clear.
