Full gallon windshield washer holder - Nice
No low level alert on windshield washer fluid - Not so Nice
Smallest possible filler opening in worst possible position and strong breeze - Raincoat required
Driving on highway in slush and WW Fluid ran out. No low level alert or warning. I would have thought there would be one. Fortunately I don't travel without a spare jug on board so all was well. Can someone confirm no low level alert or is mine broke.
I have only ever noticed "LOW WASHER LEVEL" warnings on European vehicles and some Japanese vehicles. My wife's Mini Cooper S has a REALLY bright yellow light that blinds you when the level gets low.
All my recent vehicles have had a low washer fluid warning, I still haven't run my Super Duty's fluid down all the way yet to test it. It sucks if they don't though.
When you check your oil and fluids check the wiper fluid. You are checking you oil and fluids... right?
We don't need no stinkin idiot light for that, but a tiny light wouldn't be bad for the cup the holders when placing a hot cup of coffee in the dark . Now I'm not talking about a set airport landing lights at the cup area just a small LED style.
Yes, the level is checked periodically and has been topped up, (I mentioned I keep a spare in the truck at all times). We got nailed with heavy snow in Southern Ontario. Had a major highway shutdown for 3 days, they airlifted people from trapped cars and trucks, it wasnt pretty, (they weren't driving SD's). On a long drive I am going to guess I used up a complete gallon in one trip. It would be nice to have a little advance notice to pull over and top up. Call me crazy but I dont think it is too much to ask for a $70K Truck ...... dont get me wrong I love this truck and have never driven anything better.
My Mom's '03 Expedition has one, but my truck doesn't... why is it the cars and SUV's get the luxury options? Thank goodness for the Excursion... gives us something to swap options from!
Chevy used to advertise a 1.3 gal reservoir on one of their trucks - so that when it got low, you could add a full gallon. *That* is intelligent.
In Colo., my standard rule is 'if you're going skiing or out I-70, bring a full gallon'. As for a level light, I'd much rather have a low oil indicator than a low washer fluid indicator!
How about a low oil level AND a low ww fluid. Is that asking too much. I mean really they can keep my a$$ cool in the summer, pre heat the cab, and I can even hear my text messages through the radio but no one seen fit to give me a little nudge and a wink that the ww fluid is running low. Things that make you go hmmmmmmmm.
my girlfriend has an 03 mustang 6 cyl but otherwise loaded. power everything, leather, the whole 9 yds.
i have an 03 f-250 XL work truck. power nothing, vinyl seats, you get it.
however i have an accessory delay relay, she doesn't.
she has traction control with an open diff, i have an LSD but no traction control.
the funny part is that our HVAC controls are exactly the same but two differences.
she has detents on the temperature **** mine is smooth.
also i have a position for air to come out the floor and dash simultaneously with the heat on (ie, not in the AC or MAX position)
she has to choose between floor and dash, or set the **** to AC to get both with the heat on.
there are more differences...
she has to pull a **** straight out for her headlights, whereas we turn a **** to the left. ect.
