More Power Steering Issues...

A couple of weeks ago I got a bunch of air into my power steering pump/lines. I even posted a thread here on the best way to get it purged. Then as luck would have it I got sick and the truck sat for 3 days. When I went to go drive it again, it worked PERFECT!! Well, as you can imagine I did not complain. I have been driving it for several days with it working perfect. All of a sudden today it decided that I had enough driving with power steering and now barely works at all!! As everyone here is undoubtedly aware, these trucks are no where near fun to drive with no power steering. It stopped working at the wrecking yard and I couldn't look at it much, although I didpop the hood and made sure the belt was still tight and it had fluid. How do you know if the pump itself just went out? Or how do I go about testing this thing to see what the problem is? Thanks in advance.

BTW...the truck is a 1979 F-250 XLT 4x4 with a 400 and the manual 4 speed.

its probably your ps pump I went through three of them before upgrading to a saginaw pump out of an 80 somthing van. I would look into the swap if your runnig 33's or smaller it will steer like a caddy!

Thats what I was afraid of. The pump did get run dry temporarily when I had the problem initially. Oh well...Autozone wants like $50.00 for them which isn't too bad.

If you run em dry it will eventually kill a pump, usually not right away depends on dry or empty. If your steering box leaks too get a warranty on your ps pump and you can bring it back over and over again.
