thanks I have remote start that I use 10 to 15 minutes before I go out is that time frame ok
That may be a bit too long. I have mine plugged into an outlet right out side the door. I can just reach down and pull the plug right there without actually stepping outside....or
Use a timer and have the timer shut off about the same time or just before you crank it over.
Unless the diesels have a differant block heating system, there should be no issues with having the truck plugged in while the engine is running. Block heaters are temp controlled. When the coolant gets warm they(block heaters) shut off.
My 06 has stayed plugged in while running every morning that its below 20, for at least 10-15 min since new.
The only thing I'd worry about would be driving away w/ it plugged in! - I make a habit of unplugging before getting in to start the truck. One of our rescue squad crews forgot to unplug, drove off and wrapped the cord around the front wheel - what a tangled mess we had on our hands but luckily no damage other than the cord & reel in the bay
