"67-72 Crew Cabs were produced for commerical use only, which means they were not available to the public on your average Ford lot."
Matt,
Great info...I had to go to Canada to get mine..I too have heard that all the 67-72 crews were produced in Canada. Your comment about them being produced for the commercial market makes sense regarding the F-250s. All that I have seen including mine are base models without frills like chrome trim or cloth seats.
However, there were a number of F-350s apparently produced for the camper/RV market. Some were built without a bed and the Mitchell Co. built the camper on the frame at their plant here near Denver. Mitchell went out of business in the mid 80's I believe.
Some with the bed intact were matched with some gigantic slide in Mitchell campers. I saw one recently which had a cabover camper that had a king size bed over the cab. (In other words, the cabover part extended over the entire crew cab...it was huge!) The camper also extended about 28" beyond the bed where the tailgate would be so the whole rig had to be 22' long?
The truck itself was Custom Cab trim level so it was bare bones but had strange options like factory under dash A/C and wood grain trim on the inside door panels. It was not a Camper Special, however.
Just when you think youve seen everything....you stumble on to something like this.
Thanks for the tip, my crew is F350 and it had an enormus cab over camper that I never saw, heard it was junk from the guy who Im getting it from. But I would assume that it was one of those special built ones since it was hammered, nailed and formed to fit the rear frame and there was no bed on it. There is still some 6x6's or something mounted on the frame that aided in holding the camper on.
Imgine that, my truck is a long bed 70 crew cab F350 that had a camper on it that covered the whole cab! ( I assume it covererd the whole cab because of the condition of the roof and the gutter since there is no damage or rust). Talk about HUGE!
Mine has a small box mounted under the glove box on the bottom of the dash, it has three red lights in it (I think, havnet seen it in a while, buried in the snow, hehe). Any idea what this could be for??

Matt,
Hard to say...maybe indicator lights to tell you if you left the propane on or a light on in the camper. Guess you'll have to follow the wires and see where they go.
