hey ken, i know what will fire up the conversation real well, move all the postings that, that guy tom wrote in the lighting forum, about lightning being a joke.
I just dont think chevy guys get it...the whole idea of putting a TRUCK up against a CORVETTE, and the truck loosing by only a small amount is absolutely ridiculous...how many gmc typhoons or chevy 454ss can even stay close to that??? FOrd rules...
the bottom line was the ford still lost.now how about a real shootout like the z06 vette stomps the cobra r,and we all know it does, and for $50,000 less.
their was a 454 ss in the silverstate challenge a few years back with the only modifications being a ASM tuned port setup and a 4&6 drop.the average speed was 162mph for 92 miles, crossed the finish at over 180mph.not to bad for a weenie 454ss.
you still dont get it, do you???? A TRUCK (i don't want to have to say it three times) came in literally just behind a CORVETTE. I mean, am i the only one seeing this? oh yeah, that's also why chevy bought two 99 lightnings to see what made them tick...trying to steal ford technology. And what's with this new chevy "sport truck" the one that was on speedvision? That curved heap of metal? Keep trying, and keep those Garage Mechanics happy with your GM trucks
um, by the way, what's with matching a corvette with a cobra either? the cobra is the counterpart to the camaro...i don't see the camaro pace car ss, you know, the orange and white junk box, winning many races or making any great time trials
Cobra R against a vette? Car and Driver already did that one with a viper thrown in to the mix also. They did a road test as well as the quarter mile. The Cobra won one of the races and came in second in the other by a couple hundredths. I don't remember whether it one the road race or drag. They point is that when proportionaly priced cars from the Big Three were run together, Ford ran with them just fine.
LAST EDITED ON 27-Dec-00 AT 12:14 PM (EST)[p]I want to know how he came up with the Cobra R costing $50,000 more than the Z06??? Does he live in Canada or what? Just kidding Canada guys, you gotta admit that exchange rate is a little confusing though.
I recently priced a Canadian Cobra R, well over a $100,000. Ford can keep it for that price. For that money, I could make my 85 Mustang outperform and outhandle the R, the viper, the corvette, and Fordsajoke's imagination!!!! I could even get my 95 F-150 4x4 to outperform them with that money.
A few posts back, he said about a 454 doing 180MPH? Was it dropped out of an airplane or something? No wait, I get it, in keeping with his conversion skills, he means 180 KMPH (110MPH). Or maybe that bottle of holiday cheer is taking on a whole new meaning.....

That priceless! I'll be using that line for many years to come.
Lallen brings up a good point. The Cobra Rs aren't selling for MSRP. But here's another question: Does the Z06 (if they're even at dealers yet) sell for MSRP?
