LALLEN the 545ss ran in the silver state challege had a tpo speed faster than any ford at the event, this is all documented, not made up like all your ford stats.
RYANSTRUCK you don't watch any trans-am or le mans type racing. If you did you would know the vetts, camaros, and vipers all KILL the poor little mustangs.
Hey weenie boy, I dont think you can call 3 tenths of a second stomping it. the cobra is 16 cu.in. smaller the weenie car has 10.5 to 1 compression the cobra has 9.6 to 1 the weenie car is 500 pounds lighter and where did you get the 50,000 price tag difference you need a serious reality check!!!! if that was the case the vette would only cost 3,000 I think I'll have to go buy about six of them it's fun listening to the chevy engine pop they are so easy and predictable you can't even run the vette on regular gas maybe on high test but probably racing gas to stop the ping!!!! the cobra is only 9.6 to 1 so it will run on gasoline!!!! do your homework before you bash...... you probably didn't even read the article. and about the lightning the only thing chevy had that would be any competition was the zr-1 they wouldn't even run the camaro z28 or ss against the ford truck and talk about price difference try a lightning vs. a corvette zr1!!!! John
I think he needs to read "Road & Track" April 2000 issue. It says that the Cobra R costs $54,000. (AMERICAN MONEY) I don't understand where you get this 100,000 dollar price tag. The only place that I've ever seen one even close to that, was eBay.
Heck, the Corvette (listed on page 156)is priced at $51,168. It only catches 345 horses, 350 torque, 13.6 in the quarter, and .92 G's on the skid pad. Compare that to 385 horses, 385 torque, 13.2 in the quarter, and .99 G's on the skid pad. Sorry bud, but I'd rather spend the extra $2832.00 on the Cobra.

ok fordsajoke, you must be right...i mean, just rehashing this lightning vs. corvette thing; the lightning was 3 tenths behind the corvette...now, i may be missing something here, but the truck also has a 5000 pound tow rating. can your corvette pull anything besides its fat behind? and i personally am more into nascar than lemans racing, but the few races i have seen have always had the saleen mustang placing right up front with the vipers and vettes. how big of a crater did your 545 leave when it was dropped from the plane? i'd love to see one of those mean 545 ss...front end sagging, rear end bouncing all over the place...
FORDSAJOKE, In the thread about Ford 4x4 vs chev 4x4, you are assuming that the best vehicle of the two is able to drag the other around in the parking lot by chain. That's fine, I would enjoy seeing this. So here is the question, if we hook the $3000 corvette up to the $38000 lightning, which is going to tow the other around the parking lot???? Oh, thats not fair, the corvette is too light to tow anything, and keep traction. Thats fine, we can strap the remnants of the ill fated 545SS that fell out of the airplane in the SilverState challenge to the roof of it, I will go for that. I wonder how much fiberglass would be all over the parking lot after this was done......
Oh I'm sure I could find something... bust a hole through a couple of windows, wrap the chain around the door post. ;-) (If it has one, it's been a long time since I've seen a Corvette!) (thank God) :-)

Me and my buddy just bought a dodge POS with a 305 for $300. My buddy drove it to the field behind my house. We pulled out all the glass, drained the gas tank, and then broke out our logging chains! We went to town tearing that thing apart! I have a '64 F-250, 292 v8, 4spd/granny, and my buddy has a '70 F-100, 302, C-4. One truck on each bumper; bent the frame and pulled off both bumpers. Then, we hooked up one on each axle, got a running start of about 10 feet and re-created the American Grafitti/Gone in 60 sec. thing; dragged the axles around the parking lot for a while. Man that car looked funny sitting with no wheels and it's rocker panels flush on the pavement. Then came the doors, then interior pieces, then quarter panels. Then came anything else we could get our chains hooked up on. When we were done, we cleaned up our mess, and took several trips to the scrap yard. There's now a running, but very dirty 305 at the junkyard.
Just thought i'd throw this out at all ya' Ch#vy guys.

Hehehe, even though it was amusing I wouldn't believe that little story in a heart beat! C'mon, who in there right minds pay 300 bucks for a Dodge? ;-) I can think of some cool stuff I could buy for my truck with that much money...
I thought Dodges came with the 318? The Chevys came with the 305's...
Have a good one and don't lie to much, it's not good for ya... ;-)

305, 318. I don't know, or care to know. It was close to a 302, that's all I remember. :-)
