cam? maybe dumb questions?
ok so i want to cam my truck soon i have a 351M was told u have to increase compression of cylinders but when i did some research on these engines theres not much to increase compression? and could yall give me a break down of everything needed to cam it? i plan on doing a complete rebuild when i do cam it. and does anyone have a 315/400M sitting around wanting to sell in the Cheyenne, Wyoming area?

You can get different comp ratio pistons for the 400 from TMI but I don't think anyone makes higher comp pistons for the 351M. You might want to look around for a 400 crank for your rebuild. The rods are the same between the two motors. For the cam, depending on how big, you will at least need the matching springs, keepers, retainers & maybe some spring shims.

Call a piston manufacturer and tell them the bore stroke and rod length they will tell you what pistons they have or what pistons they could make for you. Many times they will have something on hand for you try JE they are well known for fabbing pistons if need be.

ok well the cams ive looked at are all comp cams and come with everything i think from the cam to the timing gears and chain i want to go pretty big but still be streetable cuz id be driving alot during the summer to show off of course lol if/ when i get this all done and for in the winter when it snows. so what cam would yall say? i was looking at the comp cam Xtreme Energy cam kit?
