How ya doin, I was just wondering can some one tell me why some long bed F-150's have a one piece driveshaft and others have a two piece. Is a one long driveshaft for auto trans only? I have a 4.9 with a 5 speed and a two piece driveshaft.
Just to much time on my hands.
Depends on the wheelbase and/or tranny. I think all extended cab/lwb have a 2 piece, and every regular cab/lwb manual i've looked at has had a 1 piece.
This may not be all correct, but here's what I've gathered:
133" 4x2 and all longer wheelbase trucks use a 2 piece. All shorter than 133" use a 1 piece. The 133" 4x4 uses a 1 piece because of the transfer case reducing driveshaft legnth. I don't know if automatic or manual matters on these 133" trucks.
