2003 F150 5.4l code
Ok Ken
I THink I have done my research. the code
on the door is KGR2 I am ready to order a chip
but I need to know what kind for this new
03 f150 FX4 5.4l. I live in California with
the enviro weenies. I would like to stay
or have the option of 87. I would like more
performance and maybe eek out a bit more
milage. I have already done the flowmasters
and I am going with a Volant intake system.
Oh by the way I have to wait till next week to
order if it is available
thanks

Yes, we can program KGR2.
If you want to use 87 octane, you're not going to gain performance. If you want performance, you can't us 87 octane. This is a basic fact of any true performance chip.
A premium fuel chip usually gets 1-2 miles per hour more mileage but the premium fuel costs offset the gain.
The intake and exhaust don't impact programming as the MAF and oxygen sensors allow the computer to adjust for air-flow changes.

Ok I can bite the premium bullet. What kind of
programs can you get? Is it just the performance
package? I apologize for being an idiot but this
is my first American car and my first real big
motor, (I am happy about that!) The web site
says about 25HP is that in addition to any other
mods I do, i.e. intake and flowmasters?
THanks Ken I really appreciate your time.
one other thing, its California legal I assume.

Oh... California is another matter. For that you'll have to go with a Superchips module because its CARB certified. Basically, either brand chip is designed with performance "all around". In other words, tuning at all RPMs and all throttle positions.

Ken,
so In California Superchip is my only option?
which one do I get? Do you have a favorite?
you guys sell it too right? Now if I was hypothetically to put a diablo chip in mine and then
remove it, would it go back to california stock and
legal??

For street use, California requires a CARB #. The CARB number means the device has been tested and is certified to meet emission requirements or the device has been exempted. This does necessarily mean a part with a CARB # is any cleaner than a part without the number.
You can legally buy a Diablo chip but "Legal in California only for racing vehicles which may never be used upon a highway."
Yes, if you pulled the Diablo chip it the vehicle would then go back to stock and be legal for street use.
We sell both the Superchips and the Diablo. For chips the Diablo is my favorite because its a little more agreesive, but Superchips has the Microtuners which are very nice (but only about 50% of the 2003's work with them right now).

Fords? all cars? on your web site
it lists the 2003 F150 5.4L.
Does that mean my California 2003

available with the code
KGR2? Thanks Ken
those are my last ?'s

Ford trucks with V8/V10. Not all the 2003 truck ECU codes are supported by Microtuner yet.
These are the Microtuners we have listed:
Superchips MicroTuner for 1994 - 2003 Powerstroke Diesel (7.3L)
Superchips MicroTuner for 1996 - 2002 Ford Trucks and SUVs with 4.6L, 5.0L, and 5.4L (including Lightning/HD- F150), 460 and V10,
Superchips MicroTuner for 1996 - 2003 Ford Cars 4.6L V8 (Mustangs, Crown Vics, Grand Marquis and Lincolns )
Superchips has not released a list of 2003 codes that the truck Microtuner supports so there is no guarantee it'll work (which is why we list only through 2002).
