Lost my freakin' keys....

Does anyone have a work-around for the locking gas cap...??? This is for the donor truck which has had the ignition replaced at some point in it's life so I'm not too worried about that.

I took a flat head screw driver and a hammer and pounded the head of the screw driver into the cap with the hammer....just an idea

I agree, unless you want to fork out about 50 bucks to have a locksmith make a key for you. I hate when I lose my keys

Not sure what you mean by a work- around for a gas cap. But if you just want to remove it, take a big pair of channel locks to it they come off. It would be safer to remove the fuel neck from the truck first so nothing drops in the tank. Be safe

Good advice Pat!

remove the filler neck and you might be able to work the latches free with a long screwdriver.

Back in the day oh oops. :] I mean working at the dealer it was the easiest and cheapest way, was just grab the locking gas cap with your big channel locks and twist. They came right off with no damage to the neck.

The more I stewed over this, the more removing the neck looked appealing. Thank you all for the re-assurance.

Yeah, Mike, I was just going to suggest you do a lot of upgrades to your engine to improve the mileage so you would have more time to consider how to remove the gas cap,...but that channel lock thing might work too.
