I wanted to stop the clunks from the Radius arm bushings. I pulled the big nut"s , washers , rear bushings off and crammed some rubber heater hose with wd-40 in the voids of the egg shaped bushing holes. I know this is a temp fix and will put good bushings in next spring but the clunks are gone. The bushings never looked to be squished tight so i put a 3/8" thick washer that fit over the step then the original washer and the nut on both sides now the bushings seem to be squished tighter.
Question is did that pull the Axel's back 3/8" and change the alignment. ?
Is there a positive stop or do the radius arms rely on the bushing's for a stop? Seems the bushings are kinda soft rubber and the arms just float between the front cup washer and the back washer in the frame bracket and the axle would float front to back as the soft rubber would give a little . Could a Hines joint in a new frame mount be a alternative to bushings?.
Any thoughts or advice much appreciated
