In the wintertime, I'm not a Ford driver. I drive my Chevy Tracker (pre-obama) and the pickup is in the garage like it's been every winter since I bought it in 1997.

I dislike winter because I have to be out in it. Next year this time, I hope to be in Australia on the Gold Coast, riding motorcycles with my friends and customers.

I don't venture too far from the house except for work or to the gun club. I like sitting in front of the cornstove and fiddling with my laptop.

I was not complaining.

I was just saying, it was far from an easy to get to location for a lot of people.

as for the choice of what to do?
Most excellent in my opinion

I was bummed we didn't meet up for ren-fest, but then again, i had noway of knowing when you'd be there or how to get a-hold of you either.

Now that i'm not in the drivers seat, I can state my concerns, instead of worrying about what everyone is thinking. =)

The problem is there will be concerns from a lot of people. That's gonna happen if its close or far. We had a great turn out and everyone that showed up had a great time.

That being said it is alway open to discussion as to where everyone wants to go and chat and have a beverage of choice. I, for one, don't care if we went to Hooters (the service was horrible, and got worse after Pat left) or Applebees, or Bob's Bar and Grill. Its about being together as a truck group/club.

We talk about getting together over the summer, and try to run ideas for the next meet. We always talk about it being family friendly no matter where it is. There are so many things to do around the state, but nobody wants to make a suggestion or offer an opinion until it is over or an hour from happening. These things take months to plan, everyone has the same amount of pull as anyone else.

I have met and made friends from these get togethers and look forward into staying in touch with them along the way to the next one.

I do want to thank Pat again for setting it all up, it was a great time. Always good to see Mark and Tim, and it was my pleasure to put a face with your screen name Al. Remember though just turn your overheads on when I go blowing black smoke past you on the highway

Hoooooooters isn't about service, it always sucks. It's about looking at the waitresses...tresses.

Applebees 2 for 20 beats Hooters always.

You can always come down here...as a group and go to Cabelas and gawk around and then over to the club where the beers are a buck a bottle and mixed drinks are a buck and a half.

You can rub elbows with all the local rednecks, tell lies and have a general good time.

Rich you nailed it with this. thanks. pat thanks for set up. as for me I don`t care if we meet in the local mc d parking lot as long as we can
enjoy our get togeather and talk about our trucks, lives, and anything
we feel like. also make new friends and see the old ones. good times,
good trucks, good friends.

Rich it will get real windy in the cab with no windows when I turn up my system next to your truck before we hit the highway.

Chad is battling cancer. He has a tough road. Things go good get a little better and he has another set back. He is back in a neck brace and going through more proceedures today. I chat with him on facebook from time to time, Lives on the west side. He sees my posts on there about what is going on, I don't push him to do anything so he can relax and be with his family when he's not working or seeing doctors. works as parts manager at Grand Rapids Harley.

Super great guy, goin through hell.

And William, comments like "blame Rich" are pretty uncalled for. sarcastic or not.

nobody here is a babysitter for anyone else, we all try to stay in contact here or by other means and some seem to be able to. Others for reasons of there own not so much. For anyone of us to hold hands for someone else that doesn't see a post or complains that they didn't know should check into the chapter thread and try to keep up to speed what is going on. This is the only way that the chapter is going to grow and be able to have more than a handful of people come out and hang out for the day.

There is always plenty of time ahead of time to figure out where anyone wants to go. With a group the size we had Saturday we could have went anywhere. Nobody objected to Hooters so that's where we went. The service did suck at that one. After Pat and Cheryl left I hung out with some friends that came down from Lansing to see me and it took forever to get my billand leave.

Now comparing that one to the meet I set up in Lansing is way different, Lansing took special care of us due to the fact that I new managers and are personal friends with some of the staff. basically they are struggling college kids for the most part trying to make a buck at a sports bar. They wear more than what you would be subject to at a local pool or at the beach. I'll step down off my soap box about the Hooters restaurant, but if you haven't been to one to actually see what happens than the judgments will be what they are. Again it makes no difference to me so long as we can get together and hang out and shoot the breeze.

Turn out

With the state of the economy the amount of people that showed up was good stop beating each other up. anytime you have more than 10% show up you are doing great. I'm looking foward to attending the next one. Pat you did a good job distance is always a factor and the price of fuel plays a part. I'm sorry that I didn't get to meet the members. John

Based on what I last saw on the poll, I am thinking the next one might be in Cadillac for some camping and canoeing...

There is not alot of places that will want a group of people to come in
sit around for 4-5 hrs or more other then a sports bar or something like
that. most resturants you eat,sit for about an hour and get out.

money, driving, weather, meeting place. all play a part in our meets.
the fact is we are a club like all other clubs we need to find ways
for us all or as many as possible to meet up and have a good time.
thats the bottom line.
