Why are autolite glow plugs not recommended ?

Ok it seems every parts store only stocks autolite. What gives, why can't we use these?

They flat out are garbage they fail very fast and the tips swell and break off in the motor. If you wan to chance it and find out what others have the hard way go for it. Stick with OEM BERU plugs.

They have been know to swell up and when its time to remove them they break off and then you need to remove the head to get it out.

Ok what do I use then? Ford and international both are 25 a piece. No thanks. Where do I get the beru at?

BERU is the OEM supplier for these plugs. That price is a little high they should be around 17.00 each last I checked but like most things tend to go up in price.

Even worse than Autolite those rank with the ultra junk Bosch units.

Talk to Clay at Riffraff, he has them $11.00. You can get them from Partsguyed as well.
