Newb!!!!

Hey everyone, just purchased my first Ford, it's a 08' F150 single cab, 2wd, 4.2 V6. 33k. aftermarket 20" wheels.

I was a Dodge guy, but decided it was time for a change when I saw this truck sitting on the lot. I LOVE IT!!!

I do have a question that I hope someone can help me with. The tires that came on the truck (USED) are pirelli 275/55R20R, unknown mileage on them, yet still a lot of tread.
Anyway, I have a crazy vibration throughout the truck when I get above 55mph. I took it back to the dealer and he stated that he felt a problem and had it sent to his shop. They balanced, aligned, and "tightened bolts " front-end hardware that they said they found loose. Anyway, it didn't help, I get vibration in the steering wheel, seat, bed, etc.

I did read that it may be the type of balancing that they used, since they are 20" tires. (Most shops use the spinning balance, and I need the "Force Road Balancing" IE, machine that puts driving weight on the tire and wheel and adds the weights appropriately.

Is this true, has anyone had this problem before?

Sorry for the long story, but thanks in advance for helping out!

Welcome to FTE! Sorry for the deelay in a reply. Life has been a bit busy lately.

Yeah, I have heard of force road balancing.
I have close to 400,000 miles between the 2 I have owned and never had anything other than normal balancing done.

I strongly suggest checking for a tire that is out of round. A rim can cause the same problem.
I had that one time and no amount of work elsewhere will eliminate the prob.

Put it on lift, or jack it up, and spin the wheels. A high spot or low spot can be found pretty easily.

Best of luck.
Let us know what you find.
