Door chime mod didn't work?

Door chime mod didn't work?
I did the door chime mod by removing that black horseshoe shaped sensor with the black/pink striped wire running into it. What kills me is that I still experience a door chime.
I put tape over the contact and removed the black horseshoe sensor but still get a ding. What am I doing wrong?

For whatever reason that is beyond me. The door chime is now gone. I have no idea but it just stopped working when it was working after I had already disconnected.
