I was looking for a better oil filter for our trucks and came across the LF9027. It looks like about the best we can get but I don't find much info on it for powerstrokes like ours. There is a lot on the LF3630 which is the standard but this is the venturi model with the stacked disc and stratapore elements inside. Any thoughts on it?
Read the link below. TJ has done some research and has used these filters on his rig. Admittedly I didn't read the whole exchange but it was interesting to the point that I stopped. Retail, these filters run approx. $35.00 a pop.
Those guys are all bothered over what one filter salesman said it seems to me.
I liked stack disc filters though. I was a navy engineer and sat on the lower level many days watching an old deleval purifier work. Then cleaning it. That thing worked much like this filter but was lots bigger and run by a steam turbine. It was amazing the crap it pulled out of our lube oil. The navy never changes lube oil in the engines either. Most of my ships were more than 40 years old too. We just filter, settle and purify it. Then add to it due to leakage. That's it.
It appears that they have been up to this point. How many power stroke engines do you read about that have failed do to insufficient lube related directly associated to filter failure? JMHO

Most things can be better is all my point is. Some things just get worse the more they are tinkered with though. I think the filter technology has started making a good comeback since the fl1995 was designed. That donaldson ELF7405 looks like another winner too. I need to check it out more.
The venturi filter is a waste of money! Check the specs on it. The full flow filter is only rated at 30 microns absolute and the stacked disc is 10 micon nominal (50%) if I remember correctly. my cost was $30 some bucks and it didn't do that much better of a job filtering than a Wix 1734.
