the car should have a front sump oil pan, the truck will need a rear sump oil pan (and a new oil pick-up tube to match.

If you have the original truck engine there, then you will have all the parts needed to make the swap. Like was said you need the rear sump oil pan, dipstick tube and dipstick, oil pump pickup extension for the rear sump pan, and the special main bearing stud that supports the pickup extension.

You may find some little pieces are different, like the upper radiator hose neck, and a few brackets here and there, most of which can be modified to fit.

One thing to watch out for You are right in the middle of the years where they switched the balance of the 302 engines. Early engines are 28 oz inbalance while later engines are 50 oz inbalance. This happened around 81 or 82, so look at the flywheel or flexplates carefully for each engine. If you are not certain, take the flywheels to a machine shop to get them identified if you need to swap them from engine to engine. If you do not need to swap flywheels and can keep them with the engine they came with, that's the best bet.

so all the ignition stuff would be the same?

o and my pickup 302 runs real good but all the fluids leaks.
Now when it idles you can hear a loud knock knock knock knock and when you throttle up the engine it evens out and sounds great. i think theres a bad bearring on the lower end toward the front of the motor.
ive been running 20w 50 wal mart brand oil to try to keep things lubed up real good and have also poured in lucus oil aswell, you know cause im trying to buy some time.

well anyways got to go thanks for info.

The distributor from the car engine will plug right in the truck's harness.
