Unhappy '77 f150 overheating

I have a '77 f150 4x4 with a 400 4 speed. My problem is at idle the truck runs at normal operating temperature. When I drive it, the temperature gauge climbs to hot. If I let off the gas and push in the clutch, the guage returns to normal range. I believe it is overheating because of the way it runs when the gauge climbs to hot. I have checked coolant and I have no loss. I replaced the thermostat twice, going with a cooler one (180) the 2nd time. I replaced the sending unit thinking it was messed up. The radiator seems to be holding pressure but just for fun I replaced the cap. None of that helped. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Chemical flush time. Sounds like you have some scale buildup in the water jackets causing a restriction.

ya replace the fluid in it just cause its full it might not have the right amount of chemicals in it cause just like oil antifreeze breaks down over time . ford actually recommends changing the coolant every 50 to 60 k depending on driving conditions so that would be the next thing i would do
