Glow Plug Relay?

Hey,

I recently noticed a strange occurance... I go to start my truck, and the WTS Light comes on, but the voltage doesn't drop to tell me that the glow plugs are actually working... I turn off the key, and back on and WTS light comes on and my voltage drops, telling me that the Glow Plugs are on. Its kind of hit and miss, sometimes they come on sometimes they dont. Of course it won't start when Glow plugs don't heat, so I have to Key on Key off a few times to see that they are on...
Is this the Relay sticking? Or something else? I replaced the relay about 3 or 4 years ago... wouldn't have thought it would get lazy this soon.

Ideas?

I would check the connections as well as make sure that where it is bolted down is good and clean. If I'm not mistaken, it gets its ground through the mounting bracket, and needs that to operate. Remember, that if it fails to work sometime, you can always pop the hood and jump the posts with a screwdriver or something for about 30 seconds or so.

Honestly its a weekend truck, so not worried about it too much (I won't get stuck), but really just trying to figure out what is going on. I have also recently noticed that sometimes when I go to turn my key, I hear the Starter Relay click and then there is like a 1-2second delay before the starter goes... (Holding the key in the start position)... So wonder if the two problems are related...
You don't think its a lazy Relay? I will check grounds first of course...

If the starter is also doing it, I would also check your battery connections. In fact, that is where I would first start. What you described is a problem usually associated with a bad connection. At least that has been my experience over the years. How old are the batteries?

I attached a wiring diagram. Far left hand side shows the gpr. The pcm actually provides the ground. The starter solenoid on the fender gets it's ground through the bracket IIRC.

Also check the ground on the motor.
