Built Ford Tough!

I guess so!!
On way to work this morning (its winter here btw) snowing, -20c and windy coming down 2 lane both ways saw a vehicle ahead making a left turn and someone else behind her, I couldnt stop, knew id rear-end the one into the next so I went into oncomming lanes, of course she goes to make her turn into driveway, Im laying on horn to get her attention...no dice, plows right into me.

I turn down an alley street and go make sure shes ok, her front end (honda odysey) is destroyed, tie-rod(s) done for etc etc. I didnt even look at my truck i was to scared. Got the police there, yadda yadda.

I ended up with a sliced RF tire and a tiny scuff on corner of front bumper. And 2 or 3 chips in fender.
Im glad it held up well, my first accident and im 100% at fault which sucks but, no one was hurt so thats good.

I'm gonna have to bite my tongue on this one.

You're lucky you didn't broadside her. What would have happened then?

And the hapless minivan driver! She's the innocent victim here.

Longview, I'm really glad everything worked out okay! Accidents happen, vehicles can be replaced. The most important part is that everyone was okay.

When my wife wrecked my '08 four months ago, all I heard at first was that she was in an accident and in the hospital. All I could think of was how bad she was hurt and what she did to the other party if she hit them hard enough to put her in the hospital. I gave a crap less about the truck, it could and was replaced.

If something had happened to her or someone else the outcome would have been immeasurably worse. You can't take that back...

So all in all, Longview, things went well for you! Now we need pics!

Dont bite your tongue, im a big boy i can handle it.
Given the situation, the amount of time I had to make a decision I felt the best outcome happened.
I wasnt able to go into my other llane, there was another van at my rear wheels, It was either rearend the vehicle and have them rearend the lady- a 3way causing alot more damage or I could take the chance she might see me before she turned left and go into oncomming lanes, I layed on the horn and was on the sidewalk by the time she hit me. I wasnt issued any infractions by the police, he told me he felt i made the right choice... I accept full responsibility.
You/we can say "what if" all day long, noone has the answers...

Before I bought my truck I saw your thread and read the whole thing, very fortunate the wife was/is ok, trucks are not as imortant.
I was super busy at work today and didnt have time to take pics, I will tomorrow. Theres two huge slices in the sidewall of tire.

And thanks all for kind words.

I have the answer and it's very simple. You were driving too fast for conditions. Or you just weren't paying attention until it was too late.

At least nobody got hurt, so I suppose you get kudos for that. But putting yourself in that situation was a boneheaded move.

Easy man, he already accepted full responsibility. It's all good and nobody was hurt. So lesson learned. Sorry about the accident man, I'm glad everyone was ok. Of course thats the important thing.

Im sure the officer could have given me violation(s) had he wanted to.
When you drive on pure ice pretty much any speed is too fast so I wont argue with that, I changed lanes, was looking in my mirrors, I reacted when I saw the blinker, mind you I was still a good ways behind yet but not a chance i was gonna be able to stop.

Im sure she could sue(sp?) me if she wanted to? I dont know, she wont have to pay for any damages, its all on my premiums, Ive got 9 clean, accident free years, Ive got the full good drivers savings of 43%, I will go down to 25% after this and not sure how much my ins will go up yet.
My fender will be removed and repainted, a new tire and a front end wheel alignment.

Sounds like it's time for some tire chains.
