If you concerned about your electricity bill but want to keep some heat on it look into getting an oil pan heater. A 200-500w pan heater will keep the engine warm enough to start no matter how cold it is. You won't be blowing warm air at the start up but it will work fine.

This is a pretty common mod on guys that leave their loader tractor plugged in all winter.

Nice job with the ohms law. suppose I could have ohmed it out and took a volt reading. it is a pure resistive device. so that formula definitely applies. thanks everyone for the input.

Chase, no disrespect meant. Just showing the simple equations on how to do it.

Ah, a man that knows his electronics .. your right , ac devices has impedance which makes the formulas a bit harder. but not really that much. To show my age when I was taking my tests back in the late 60's and early 70's calculators were not allowed, only slide rules .. anyone know how to use a slide rule? All the math had to be calculated on a piece of paper to show the instructor you knew the concepts, step by step. It was a pain in the butt but did force us to mentally understand the equations without computers.

Don't really know why I went here except I was thinking about it the other day how hard I though it was but thankful the old school processes made my mine work.
