4x4 noise
I figured it it be better to post this here rather than in the PSD forum. I have auto-lockers and the manual transfer case.
When I use my 4x4, i hear a noise when it is either under positive load (accelerating) or when under a negative load (braking). But under no load its dead silent. The noise is kinda hard to describe, its almost a grinding sound, but its also like a chattery noise.
All the u-joints for the front driveline have been replaced recently except the center one on the axle. It doesn't have any play in it. But it was darn near siezed up when I replaced the passenger side u-joint. It took about 15-20 oz of gear oil to top off the front differential. And I removed the transfer case fill level plug and some ATF ran out the hole so its at the proper level. Everything seems to be tight.
Any ideas?
