So ive got a 89 f150. 302 AOD 4X4 Dual tanks. My gas gauge hasn't worked since i got the truck. It usually says super fool. but today it started giving a reading, but it was bouncing around weird and acting weird. Ive been thinking it was 2 bad sending units. But it is doing the bouncing on both tanks. So i dont think both sending units would do that at once. i dont know. an anyone help?? it seems like it did it when the tank gets low. thanks
When I got my 88 it had both sending units bad. Both read super full. One pump went out a few days later I replaced both senders/pumps and all is well.
same on my 89 but they read empty then started reading like yours are all jumpy and what not then one went out so i replaced the one and shortly after the other went out so now both read perfect and no problems since so it might be both units
not really just like 4 bolts to drop the tank. Then when you drop it all you have to do is take the ring off and the pump out and replace it. try to make sure the takes empty or close otherwise it might be a little heavy lol
