I found a headlamp switch at PartsGuyEd.com for $43.15 and now my switch lights work. I still can't see where the bulb is on the new unit. Any thoughts? It seems to be a sealed unit.
There is no way to get the switch apart and no bulb that I can see on the outside. The is a hole beneath the switch that might take a bulb holder and there is clear plastic around the switch that could carry the light, but no bulb or socket. I couldn't see any bulb holder loose in the dash either. If someone has one apart please post a picture of the bulb location.
I think the face plate will come off although I have never taken mine apart. There are little tabs that I believe you can pry and the face plate shouldl come off. The **** should pull off with a little force.
I was removing my switch when I put my remote start/alarm in and I broke one of the face plate tabs. The face plate stayed that way for a while until I put my pilar gauges in and I had to get access through the light switch hole. So while I had it out I used super glue on the side where the tab was broken. Super glue works great.
Again, not sure what you will find under the face plate but it can be repaired if the tabs break.
The face plate was riveted/welded on and had started to break apart on one end. I did glue it but it didn't hold.
I haven't tried to pull the **** off. There might be a bulb under there. I'll update later when I've checked. Now that I have a new switch I could destroy the old one!
To get the **** off, just flip over the switch pull on the **** and you will see a hole, I used a small thin screw driver and pushed it in the hole and the **** came.
