Forgive me for my ignorance but, How does the HPOP recirculate the oil back into the oil pan? It is pumped to the HPOP from the Low Pressure Oil Pump correct? Is the some kind of valve that keeps it from draining back into the oil pan?
Thats where im at with this?? I am too ignorant so excuse me, but I thought the HPOP was a high pressure fuel pump?? so it pumps engine oil??? How does that work??
I was going to post something like this but though maybe i would get pounded for it...lol
Low pressure pump puts it into the reservoir on top of the engine (yes there is a check valve) then feeds into the high pressure oil pump out to the injectors. Spits out the injectors and drains out on top of the head and drips back down in to the oil pan then starts the cycle all over again.

Yep oil not fuel. Fuel pressure is created in the fuel injector using an intensifier piston powered by the high pressure oil to create the 21,000 psi to injector the fuel into the cylinder.
BTW you won't get pounded for asking question. We only pound on you if you don't listen!! LOL
Thanks Tim. I was thinking that was probably how it went. But I didn't want to tell anyone the wrong thing or make a inaccurate you tube video. HA! HA! Try to rep ya.
I see... so the injectors are like little hydraulic cylinders to disperse the fuel.... I get it... This clears alot up for me with the fuel system. so this system along with the solonoids on the injectors and the idm take the place of an injector pump?
Is there value in evacuating the top and putting in fresh oil when you change it?

Yes you are correct in how the injectors take the place of the injection pump of mechanical injection engines.
There is little value in sucking the oil out of the HPOP reservoir. It is no different in cleanliness than the oil in the oil pan. The only good thing about sucking it out is its more of a complete oil change. IMO not worth the effort.
I didnt mean to stir the pot... I just really didnt know. I never owned a stroke before. I had a 91 350 4x4 7.3 that I bought new and got pretty familiar with it over the years but this thing is a different animal.
Just so you know, this forum doesn't flame like most others. Noob questions are fine. We've all had them and still will when something new comes up. THe OBS forum is a true haven on the net for that very reason.
As always, very helpful Tim.
your not stirring any pot, everyone here only wants to help eachother, having a laugh or chuckle when something is brought is definitley not stirrup the pot
