I have a 77 f250 w/ 351m and a manual choke setup. (installed when i bought truck) When i try to start the truck the choke does not do anything except kill the motor... I have to feather the gas for awhile till it warms up. Isnt the choke suppose to put it into a higher idle so it will warm itself up?
Usually you pull the choke closed, hit the start and push the choke in a little as the engine cathes.
And yes, more often than not you may have to feather the throttle initially to help "burp" the engine, but after 10-15 seconds it should be idling fairly well.
Also, you should notie that as the engine warms up you will need to puch the choke in to keep the revs down.
