Getting my Heads from the Machine Shop in the morning. Got most of my parts in, enough to start putting it back together any way. I'm going to try to get some pictures posted soon. This is an after thought but has any body else have this problem. I had to pull the 4 back out side HD bolts with the head, there was no way they were coming out first. I pulled the A/C dog house side cover off to aid in some more room. This was on the pass side. Any thoughts on this. Thanks
I did the same and posted a full write-up on it. When you put the passenger side head back on you obviously have to reverse the process. I did it by using some of the old O-rings from the injectors to hold the new studs at the right height (depth) in the head for re-installation of the head. On the driver side head only the lower rear stud had to be in place when the head went on.
Be sure and have the glow plugs AND the glow plug harness installed on the head to save more time later. The wiring harness is a b*tch to put back on the Pass head even with the HVAC side cover off.
Hang in there and take your time, it will pay off in the end!
The ARP's and HG's are done and the turbo has been freshened up. It runs great but what a huge pain in the A** with the cab on.
I had to smile just a little, for 2 reasons, it hasn't been that long since I finished mine and know the relief when you start it for the first time, and I vividly remember what a pain in the A** it was for me too!
Thanks for all the help. This is a great community.
I have to ask you, other thank leaking coolant did you have any other signs of bolt/gasket failure? White smoke? Low power? Where gaskets ever pressure tested? Has your degas leaking gone away since work was done?
I'm going through some deags leaking/spewing but everything is in check including gasket pressure test and water and oil temp gap as well as new cap. Bottle is correct level. No smoke. Can't figure it out. Seems to puke everytime ECT gets over 205-208. I don't believe the water is boiling. Have not had fan on before?
the truck always ran good no fluid mix, good power, just never could keep the coolant in the tank. Just befor i did the HG's you could see bubbles coming into the tank from the bottom hose. Never got the HG's pressure checked and no white smoke. NO more coolant leaking from the bottle. NO more coolant smell.

The gasket pressure check.....how is that done? Mine had ALL of your same signs. The ONLY indication of Bolt/Gasket failure was too much pressure in the degas bottle and bubbles in the bottle. That was from cylinder pressure escaping into the cooling system at the head gasket.
