I don't have any pics up now, but I'll try and get some up in the gallery this week. I think at this point, my biggest bottleneck is the rear end... it would definitely respond well to more gear, a locker, and some slicks. Have you done anything special with your rear suspension? Traction bars?
Looks from your avatar like you're running slicks. Did you need to upgrade your axles and/or 3rd member case, or do the stock parts handle them ok?
All of the above lol although I didn't have any trouble breaking parts until I started spraying the truck. Full Moser center section with 3.70s and a spool, Moser 33 spline axles, chromoly driveshaft with 1350 u joints. It had a custom slapper bar set-up on it but I recently went to Cal tracs to help it hook on drag radials and on the street. The pic is with the slapper bars and 28x10.5 slicks with a 200 shot. I havent made many passes with the Cal tracs.
If I were you I would buy a set of MT drag radials you will be more than happy with them and they hook great on my truck on motor. Its goes 1.6s consistently on them.
For the life of me I can't understand why people run their timing locked out. If you're experiencing timing scatter, get a better damper or figure out what the hell is wrong with your dizzy. If yours is locked as you say it is, and set at zero degrees, you will probably have raw fuel being burned in the exhaust runners. Put in any stock duraspark distributor, set initial at 10 degrees, and I bet your issues go away. Then have a decent curve put in it and enjoy.
Like stated before, bump the timing up to atleast 12btdc, right now the spark is firing right as the piston reaches the top of its stroke, not ideal, and it can cause the motor to run hot. Do that and bump up about 2 jet sizes, see if that helps with the lean problem.
The smaller carb is a hinderance on hp, but if you propperly jet it it won't hurt anything.
Actually, fix the timing before you do ANYTHING with the carb. Advancing the timing will increase the manifold vacuum BIG time. Which, by the way, helps the carb supply more fuel.
