Ball joints

I have been shopping prices for someone to replace my ball joint on my F250 4x4. What is the average price to do the upper and lower. I have been getting prices from six hundred to nine hundred

Those prices seem to be in the right range... or you can do it yourself.
Parts would be +/- $200.

I really like the XRF. They are a very good part & much less expensive than the others

Shop craigslist. Lots of mechanics on there that need the extra $ and do stuff as side jobs after working 8 hours at a dealer. I'm about to get my ball joints replaced along with my spark plugs and boots for $600. Sears wanted close to $400 just for the lower ball joints! Picked up my O-rings and seals from PartsGuyEd, and my MOOG Ball Joints from Advance Auto Parts for $202 (that was after a 20% Off code). Order the parts online, go to retailmenot.com and look at the codes for money off orders, place order online and opt for the Pick-up at store, so you don't have to wait on shipping and there ya go! Can't use the code in the store so you gotta order online.

Be warned! If you don't have a good press or a VERY good ball joint press (the one from Harbor Freight will NOT do the job), you are probably going to have to take the knuckles in to have the joints pressed out and in. The best I could find on price for that was $40/side, but I had a difficult time finding a shop that would be willing to do it (many around here do not want just part of a job).

Hope it helps, and good luck!

I've had my tranny rebuilt using a guy off of there and 1 day after he rebuilt it and gave it back, the torque convertor was faulty and didn't work. It was new, but just a bad one. But he had given me a 12-month 12,000 mile warranty, and replaced it the very next day under his warranty.

There are good ppl on there, as well as some bad. Just do your research on them first.

Autozone will rent a press to you. And I think they even give most/if not all your money back when you bring it back.

I am sure there are some good people out there but it's hard enough to find a trust worthy mechanic.

I picked up my truck everything seems to be good so far happy with the there work but go figure. When I left my emision light came on EFFFF.
A neighbor has OBD hooked it up and not sure what came up was a code or not. What came up was PO171 Any help would be great. Thanks

With just the ball-joints the only damage you might do, to pop a code, is damage to an ABS sensor, but then your ABS light would be on.

I paid $800 and that included tire rotation and alignment.
The joints were Lifetime warranted moogs.
I am based in SoCal, so my labor costs might be a little higher than in your area.

Would have done it myself, but where I am at currently I don't have all my tools.
