going bigger
I just did some searching... seems most are 66/71 with a 17cm housing, but some run a 19cm housing. There also seems to be quite a few that are 66/76. So many stinkin' options when it comes to a real turbo...
Yep just start looking at options available for the S400's and S300's. Different compressor wheels, race covers, turbine wheels, turbine housings, wastegated, non-wastegated, t-4, t-6, divided, non-divided, billet compressor wheels, etc. The options are crazy.
Now if I could just get instantly rich so I could buy the parts I want I'd be set!
guys guys guys.... i never once said the 66 was enough for that injector. I wont ever say that....
But it will and can work with them giving the right tuning. Its all about shift points guys. If you dont let the truck wind up to 3700 rpms and you keep the drive pressures in check it will last as long as i want.
Then i will obviously upgrade it once i can afford to. But i like driving with a turbo thats just a hair to small, makes for great spool up

I was thinking of murf t4 mount with gqssb but is there a better bang for the buck than that for aroung 550hp? Im sure id get a couple hundred for my 1.15 van turbo w/ats hsng
What's the difference between t4 and t4i? Just a little machining? If so that's no problem
T4i is wider than the T4 in one direction... all it takes is some slotting of the bolt holes.
GQSSB is a great turbo, but not exactly cheap. There are other turbos that will work just as well and can be had cheaper, it just depends on how much time you spend looking to try and save a few hundred bucks. I'm still kicking myself for missing out on a $150 H2e a while back.

lol beans said they would be haveing some turbo sales after the 1st of the year ill keep you posted
Chase, you can pick up H2E's all day long CHEAP. Even brand new they are not an expensive turbo. I think brand new they might be $600 tops IIRC. The H2E is a good little turbo, but the downside of it is the price of the mounting kit for it. If you can build your own mount, your good, but if you have to buy one then your going to spend big money to put that cheap turbo on your truck.
OP, I know where your coming from. I'm just saying if you want to keep the D66 for awhile, you might want to get a little less nozzle..

I won't be spending the coin for a Hypermax mount kit. I'd make the H2e work with a Murff kit if I end up getting that turbo. I figure if I play my cards right I can be into a T4 turbo of some flavor, mount kit, plenums, and IC for under a grand.
Hmmm... I'll have to look into that some more.
