On an older truck once I wanted to try 35's tire discounter put them on just to see what kind of rubbing. I was getting tire regardless so they were nice about it. I would like to put bigger tires and at least all terrain on my 2011 crew cab superduty, but spent enough money all ready.
For those that have changed tire size have you did anything to adjust the speedometer.
After speaking with Mike, if you go with a 33" tire or shorter, the factory computer in the 2011's will compensate for it automatically. Otherwise, a handheld tuner will do the trick.
So this has been some time - What tire did you go with? I am looking at getting rid of my stock tires. Pretty darn wimpy and not worth a crap in the snow.
I am considering Cooper AT3 285/70R17 At or Cooper M+S Studded 235/80R17.
I have had the M+S on every truck that I have had for winter tires and have been very happy yet I am getting tired of rotating tires every 6-months. The other negative with the M+S is they wear pretty fast. I usually get 2-3 winters driving before I have to replace.
Thus giving thought to the AT3. Bad thing is they are new and I do not know how they will handle in the snow/ice.
The other item, cosmetic only, is the stock tires look disporption (Small) to the truck thus I do like the AT3 in 285.
They handle great in the rain, bite awesome in the mud, and are just a little noisy, not bad for 35's really. I'll let you know about the snow in a few weeks lol.
Oh ya and the kicker, they are less than half the price of Toyo Open Country M/T's in a smaller size...
Just for comparison sake, here is a pic of my wife's new tire(on the left) and my new tire(on the right), a few feet in front of the factory tires still on the truck. The left tire is a 285/76-18 from Treadwright as well, in the "warden" tread pattern, which is identical to BFG's All-Terrain KO tire-Just waaaaaaaay cheaper.
