Funny Smell

Ok, my 06-6.0 4x4 appears to have an oil leak that I just cant find. When the truck has been running for about half an hour, you can smell burnt oil coming thru the airducts into the cab. I had it at the dealer for about a week and they said they could not duplicate the condition and therefore did nothing.

I never smelt it before they (the dealer) took the motor apart to replace a bad HPOP and cracked front cover. Ever since then, it smells and uses an abnormal amount of oil, and there does not seem to be any puddles on the ground if you idle while parked.

Any thoughts? This smell is bad enough to make you sick.

The using oil thing does concern me, but is it possible you're smelling exhaust? There's nothing in the repairs that they did that should have made it use oil. You might check around in the engine compartment for smoke. Sometimes it's easier to do it in the dark with a flashlight. Have someone "goose" the throttle and watch for smoke in the light.

Could it be an exhaust leak (y-pipe perhaps)?

I guess it is possible it is exhaust, I will have to look into that and see. I hadn't actually considered that as a possibility. I will try and look tomorrow and let you guys know.
