Although not a 6.7 post, I would like to take a moment to remember and thank all our US Armed Forces personnel, worldwide and active or retired, for their service to our country. Debbie's dad was a B24 navigator in WW II. The greatest generation stepped up after this day in 1941 and changed the world. Today's military continues to protect that hard earned victory. God Bless You all.
Ditto that!
My Dad flew Spitfires and Hurricanes in Europe in '46, just after WWII ended and he became of age.
Here's to Dad, and the rest of the 'Greatest Generation'!
I have a neighbor who fought in the battle of the bulge. He can barely walk or breathe anymore but he puts out his American flag every day. He has taught my kids the value of freedom and gratitude for the American way. Thank you vets!

Thanks
Rickatic -- thanks for bringing this subject up. They were the greatest generation AND modest at that. When I was growing up, I knew my Dad was in WWII and very little else. Then one day, in my late teenage years I came upon his "stuff" in a drawer in the gun cabinet.
Various recognition medals from multiple countries and including from our country a purple heart with cluster, bronze and silver stars! I asked him about them and his response was "there were braver guys than me there". Talk about humble.
After his death, I researched where his unit was and what his commendations were for. 82nd Airborne, parachuted into Normandy on D-Day, Market Garden, wounded & lost behind enemy lines for 3 weeks at the Bulge, Occupation Force in Berlin -- and never did he ever talked about any of it.
It wasn't until late in his life that we got him to proudly hang his medals in a case on his wall.
