Can the foggy headlights on my 87 be buffed out or do I need to replace them? If they can be cleaned up what works best?
Also, noticed this morning that when my defroster is on I'm still getting heat at the floor. Is this an adjustment under the dash or?
I've heard really good things about this product, never tried it myself, but I'm gonna be getting it soon for the family F150, as they are nasty fogged over. http://www.mothers.com/02_products/07250.html
Does help to include the link the first time you hit post.
you can get a can of bug spray like OFF and spray that on there and that yellow **** will just wipe off. I used the OFF method on my F150 and it works great. Toothpaste is supposed to work too......
I used the 3M headlight restoration kit, and s*!t does it ever work! Headlights look brand new. It's probably pricier than the off trick tho, gonna try that one on another truck.
and if you got water behind the lens, take a dremel or a REALLY tiny drill bit and put a very very small hole in the bottom corner of the lens, it will drain the water in there as well as any future leakage-i did it and it hasnt affected my headlight bulb life at all in a couple years. plus it stops condensation inside the lens permanently.
Never heard of the off trick either, must be some kind of solvent in there. I did the 3M kit to my truck, and my brothers van last fall. WOW what a difference. I think I still have a condensation problem, can't remember if I've drilled a hole yet, or just thought about it. I've heard about the toothpaste though, someone said it works on watches, which would be the same plastic as headlights I'd imagine (cheap watches at least). My brother paid for the kit, so I didn't have to worry about that. Harbor Freight has them for cheaper than 3M and it looked to be similar. I would have tried that route, but they were out at the time, and like I said, my brother paid for the kit (I just got to keep it after doing the labor on his )
i did the toothpaste method , worked pretty darn good , it took a couple layers of crap off it definetly made a diffrence !
i also did the 3m headlight restoration kit that thing was the bomb it made them look brand new !
pretty cool.and they actually stay clear too? they dont revert right back to foggy/yellow after a washing or two or anything?
Ive never had em revert back after a couple washes. Gotta remember toothpaste is nothing more than a polishing compound, so no reason they should revert back
what you need is the polishing ball and the headlight restoration polishing compound. The 3m kit is about 30 here, but the headlight compound is only 4 dollars. The polishing ball is 6.99. Get the math done fellers!! hehe
