Has any one come up with a way to adjust a hyd clutch? I can not believe that the throw out bearing was made to ride on the pressure plate all the time. I've been told that when the rpm's get up that the bearing does not spin. I refuse to believe it. Any comments?
The throw out bearing is not adjustable on nearly all late model's. On some earlier model's they had a "Quadrant" mounted under the dash which allowed for automatic adjusting. I have learned that when replacing the clutch assembly and having the flywheel machined, find out how much the flywheel was turned down, and back shim the flywheel that amount. This will bring everything back into factory spec's.
Why do you ask about the throw out bearing? Is your making noise?
Late model's do not have an adjustment on them. They are totally hydraulic. If your fluid gets low, it will keep the fork from coming all the way back and might possibly let the throw out bearing ride on the pressure plate.
BUT, I do know that when the throw out goes, it will make a horrible racket when you put pressure on the drive line, i.e. coasting down a hill using the engine as a brake. This would lead me to believe that it DOES ride on the pressure plate all the time.
